About Us

Crisis Information Centre (CIK) unites savoir-faire of science development and end-users view. We are part of Earth Observation Group in Space Research Centre of Polish Academy of Sciences.

The main aim of CIK activities is to increase effectiveness in the field of rescue and crisis management by:

  • effective usage of existing technical capabilities in the field of geospatial information,
  • developing new methods and tools in this field, particularly development of usage of satellite techniques.

CIK activities covers:

  • expert advisory for the State Fire Service and crisis management institutions in usage of geospatial and satellite information,
  • geoinformatcis support for the State Fire Service and Polish non-governmental organisations that operate outside of Polish borders,
  • testing usability of new, pre-operational technical solutions during exercises. 

TEAM

Jakub Ryzenko – Head of Crisis Information Centre

Jakub is a specialist in the field of space politics, international co-operation in space activities, usage of satellite techniques in the field of safety and system engineering (managing of complex engineering projects). In 2004-2008 he was Head of Polish Space Office. Since then he is strongly involved in promotion of usage of satellite techniques in Poland. After that he was an advisor for Ministry of Economics in the field of space politics, Polish Presidency in EU expert in the field of usage of new technologies and satellite techniques for civil safety. In 2011-2013 was involved in process of joining Poland into European Space Agency. For many years involved in new satellite techniques usage development for safety. Since 2013 Head of Crisis Information Centre CBK, initiator of many projects in usage of satellite techniques for rescue and crisis management.

 

Anna Foks-Ryznar – Deputy Head of Crisis Information Centre

Anna owns a PhD and MSc. degree in satellite geodesy. She gained vast experience in designing, evaluation and validation of new technologies based on satellite remote sensing and satellite navigation for crisis management, rescue services and humanitarian aid. Project originator and project manager with over 12 years of experience in managing projects funded by European Funds, EU Research Programmes and the European Space Agency. 

 

Tomasz Borkowski – Crisis Management Specialist

Tomasz is a graduate of Civil Safety Engineering at the Main School of Fire Service in Warsaw. His main task is to implement tools used in crisis management in the strategic games, and different types of exercises. Tomasz started as an intern with CIK but soon after he was already an employee.

 

Katarzyna Dąborwska - Crisis Management Specialist

Katarzyna is graduate of the Main School of Fire Service in Warsaw. Her main area of interest is the implementation of new technologies in decision making processes. She joined CIK in March 2019 and she is responsible for supporting of Sat4Envi project coordination. 

 

Alicja Gadawska – Geoinformation Specialist

Alicja holds MSc degree in Spatial Management and Environmental Science at Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography from Warsaw University of Technology. She specializes in processing of satellite images and spatial analysis dedicated to crisis management. Being engaged in several projects, she is focused on delivering crisis management products, conducting spatial analysis and testing new GIS technologies. She has experience in the field of education and its promotion in science. She joined CIK in September 2014. Her scientific interests focus on usage of geoinformation technologies in crisis management, monument protection and spatial planning and promotion of this technologies in education. 

 

Wojciech Hodowicz - Crisis Management Specialist

Wojciech is an expert in crisis management and public security area, holds Master’s Degree in internal security form the University of Warsaw. He has 6 years of experience as an expert and senior inspector in the Crisis Management Centre of Mazowieckie voivodeship. He was involved in preparation and management of safety and security aspects of  many huge events, i.a., European Football Championship „EURO 2012”, World Youth Day in 2016 and NATO Summit 2016 in Warsaw. In SRC his tasks are focused on implementation and improvement of UAVs and satellite applications for crisis management and other public security units.

 

Marta Milczarek – Spatial Analyst and Remote Sensing Specialist

Marta is a geographer, graduate of University of Warsaw, Faculty of Geography and Regional Studies. Her specializations are: geoinformatics & remote sensing and geomorphology. In Crisis Information Centre she deals with satellite imagery processing and prepares maps and analyses combining various geospatial data with the use of GIS for the need of crisis management, public security units and development assistance. 

 

Anna Robak – Spatial Analyst and Remote Sensing Specialist

Ania is a graduate of University of Warsaw, Faculty of Geography and Regional Studies. She graduated following specializations with honours: geoinformatics, cartography and remote sensing. Since April, 2016 she is a part of CIK Team. Her main scientific interests are: geoinformatic and remote sensing, especially vegetation monitoring and crisis management.  

 

Karolina Trzebińska - Project Assistant

Karolina is an alumni of International Humanitarian Assistance master studies, organized by NOHA (Network on Humanitarian Action). She graduated in 2018 with double diploma from Warsaw and Groningen University. Her main area of interest is humanitarian assistance, in particular psychological aid, as well as trafficking in human beings. Karolina has joined CIK team in the end of 2017. Among her main responsibilities is the coordination of Final Demo preparation of the DRIVER+ Project. 

 

Joanna Tymińska – Crisis Management Specialist

Joanna owns MSc. degree from Civil Safety Engineering and curently is studying Fire Safety Engineering in The Main School of Fire Service. She joined CIK in March 2014. Her main field of interest is ciris management and civil safety in Poland in the firld of international cooperation. Her duties are organization and evaluation of table top exercises within current projects and testing and implementing modern CBRN protection tools that covers radiation threats.owns MSc. degree from Civil Safety Engineering in The Main School of Fire Service. She has a practical knowledge on Civil Safety Engineering, Fire Safety Engineering. She is an expert on Tool and Ethics Evaluation and Methodology and has professional experience on organization and evaluation of exercises and international cooperation for crisis management within EO/GIS data usage for a better end-user situational awareness. Her main field of interest is crisis management and civil safety in Poland on the field of international cooperation.

 

Emil Wrzosek – Crisis Management Specialist

Emil has graduated Civil Safety Engineering in The Main School of Fire Service in Warsaw. His main field of interest is planning and conducting simulation games, exercises and trainings. In his work he focuses on multi-surface view related to civil safety. Member of the CIK since March 2014. He is currently involved in ogranizing table top exercises and demonstrations that are related among others terrorist safety or CBRNe. His goal is to prepare table top exercise at highest possible level.
